Are you tired of shaving, tweezing and waxing? A growing number of Americans are opting for a more permanent solution—laser or pulsed light hair removal.

“Ruby, alexandrite, and diode lasers are effective in removing dark hair from light skin, while the Nd:YAG is effective on all skin types. Pulsed light systems allow deeper, more specific targeting....” (Spa Enthusiast™, Spring 2005)

Our State-of-the-Art Palomar system emits pulses of intense lamp-light into hair follicles. The light is absorbed by the pigment in the follicles and converted to heat energy. This loosens hair and disables the cells that make new hair. Practically any area of the body can be treated.

Traditional waxing, tweezing and threading procedures painfully rip hair from the skin. Electrolysis offers a more permanent solution, but can be very time consuming and excruciating. Light-based hair removal technology now offers men and women safe, effective, more comfortable, and fast ways to reduce hair permanently.

In 1996, Palomar Medical Technologies became the first light-based technology company to receive FDA clearance for Permanent Hair Reduction. Palomar, a leading researcher and developer of proprietary laser and light systems, has since continued to develop more powerful and effective technologies to achieve the quickest possible clearance of hair.

HOW SAFE?
Palomar’s pulsed-light technology employs the use of wavelength filters that allow for safe and precise targeting of hair. Harmful ultraviolet light is never emitted. So there is no chance that treatments would increase your risk for developing cancer. Our Palomar System is FDA approved and classified as a Class 2 laser device by FDA and ANSI standards.

Your safety is our top priority.

DO TREATMENTS HURT?
Most people who have had their hair removed by waxing will agree that light-based hair removal treatments are much more comfortable. Some describe the sensation of a small rubber band being slapped against the treated area when the light is pulsed. Our pulsed light system is much more comfortable than traditional lasers commonly used for hair removal. No anesthesia is necessary.

HOW MANY TREATMENTS ARE NECESSARY AND ARE THEY EFFECTIVE?
On average, you will require a total of 4 to 6 treatments. This is because hair removal treatments target the follicles that are in the active growth phase. Each hair follicle goes through a life cycle of hair growth (anagen phase), regression and shrinkage (catagen phase) and release. All hair follicles eventually go through a resting phase (telogen phase) during which no hair is produced. Follicles that are in a resting phase are unaffected by treatment, but may enter the active phase 1 to 6 months later, and will be targeted at that time. Remember that light targets the pigment within the follicle; multiple treatments aim to “catch” the follicles when they are actively growing hair.

Treatments are usually spaced 4 to 6 weeks apart. Upon completion of your sixth treatment, essentially no hair growth should remain in treated areas. We guarantee our results for an entire year following the completion of your 6 th treatment provided that you have adhered to treatment schedules and recommendations. Should minor touch-ups be necessary subsequent to that period of time, you will receive treatments at a substantially discounted rate.

Hirsutism or androgenic hair growth due to hormonal imbalance may interfere with the effectiveness of treatments. Pulsed-light treatments specifically target the hair follicles, but will not correct a body’s underlying hormonal problem. Our doctor will spend the time to figure out what appropriate treatment plan would best fit your needs.

WHO MAY USE LASERS OR INTENSE PULSED LIGHT DEVICES?
These procedures are considered medical, and not just anyone is qualified and experienced to perform them. Our experienced, licensed staff is thoroughly trained, certified, and actively participates with a network of physicians, researchers, and clinical faculty to keep up-to-date with new developments and technologies. We help preceptor and train physicians, physician assistants, registered nurses and nurse practitioners in the proper application of this technology.

A licensed physician will take the time to visit with you and answer all your questions.

In the State of California...

“Physicians may use lasers or intense pulse light devices. In addition, physician assistants and registered nurses ( not licensed vocational nurses) may perform these treatments under a physician's supervision. Unlicensed medical assistants, licensed vocational nurses, cosmetologists, electrologists or estheticians may not legally perform these treatments under any circumstances, nor may registered nurses or physician assistants perform them independently, without supervision.” (Medical Board of California, 2005)
